THE OTHER SIDE OF DIGNITY
Even though a little has been said so far on physiological harassment or moral abuse in the Armed Forces, this does not mean that either Armed Forces or the society in general have been exempted from this kind of phenomenon. One may say that discipline and hierarchical structure make a fertile soil for development of such conflicts; however it has been thought that military regulations, if properly applied, can themselves prevent this phenomenon. Is it possible that very organization of the Armed Forces may change the level of tolerance of rudeness in interpersonal relations and is it possible to precisely determine whether one has stayed within his or her authority? Finally, does one when joining the Armed Forces renounce one part of his or her integrity and a priori accepts “uncommon” professional communication, and if that’s so, how one can compensate that?
